I should point out that I don't have a surround set-up and perhaps (and it seems from the other comments) that the surround mix is great. Then I hit the Remaster button for one final round of experimental mastering. I had to learn the hard way myself that 'original master tapes' may not mean what you think it means in some cases. And for those of you who are interested in frequencies above 20k (whether you can hear them or not).well, I didn't see any on this master so don't worry o) So, I widened the stereo width, increased the EQ intensity, and boosted the mids. I'm sceptical about the advantages of 96k/24 for a playback format itself so having the same heavily limited material in this format is no advantage. ![]() I guess they've just included the 96k version as a bonus (as it will have been created as part of the mastering process anyway) rather than doing a new master for the DVD-A. This is a disgrace as the DVD-A is supposed to be about the best audio quality. The biggest disappointment of all is that the 'hi-res' DVD-A stereo masters are just as bad! In fact, they are identical aside from being 96/24 vs 44.1/16. I have the previous 90's era remaster and I also bought the recent special edition.Īs suspected the new special edition is mastered to be very loud.
